SUPPLEMENTAL EDUCATIONAL SERVICES

School Choice Information

Number of Students Participating in the School Choice Option Since 2006-07: 

During the past three years, the Stafford County Public Schools has offered school choice to parents attending Title 1 schools that did not meet all of the Annual Yearly Progress benchmarks established by federal guidelines for two consecutive years. 

During 2007-08, Rocky Run Elementary School was designated as a “School of Choice” which allowed the parents of 790 students the option to transfer to Rockhill Elementary, Garrisonville Elementary, or Margaret Brent Elementary. Nineteen (19) students exercised the school choice option in 2007-08.

During 2008-09, Rocky Run Elementary, Kate Waller Barrett Elementary and Falmouth Elementary were designated as “Schools of Choice” which allowed a total of 1970 parents the option to transfer to Rockhill Elementary, Garrisonville Elementary, Margaret Brent Elementary, Ferry Farm Elementary and Grafton Village Elementary. Thirty-nine (39) students exercised the school choice option in 2008-09.

During 2009-10, Kate Waller Barrett Elementary School has been designated as a “School of Choice” which allows the parents of 730 students the option to transfer to Rockhill Elementary, Garrisonville Elementary, or Margaret Brent Elementary. Fifteen (15) students have exercised the school choice option in 2009-10.



Number of Students Participating in Supplemental Educational Services Since 2006-07:

In addition, during the 2007-08 school year, thirty-five (35) students at Rocky Run Elementary School participated in Supplemental Educational Services (SES) which provided afterschool instruction for students identified as “at-risk” of failing the Standards of Learning year-end assessments.

 

During the 2008-09 school year, forty-five (45) students at Rocky Run Elementary School participated in Supplemental Educational Services (SES) which provided afterschool instruction for students identified as “at-risk” of failing the Standards of Learning year-end assessments.
